Field notes from a life in transit   in transit

Sofia Costa

About me

My name is Sofia Costa.

My father is Italian. My mother is Brazilian. I was born in Milan, which means I grew up arguing about coffee.

I studied photography in London. I carry a 35mm film camera everywhere I go. I travel with one bag.

I don’t have a home base. I have a next destination.

What I do

I write about slow travel – the kind where you stay long enough to know which café opens early and which one is worth the wait. I photograph the in-between moments: the half-eaten breakfast, the window light, the street before the tourists arrive.

I post twice a day. Morning and evening, wherever I am.

Why film

Digital is fast. Film makes you choose. I like choosing.

Every image on this site started as a frame I decided was worth the cost of one shot.

Where I’ve been

Portugal. Spain. Morocco. Italy – home, sort of. Greece. Turkey. Georgia. Japan. Vietnam. Bali.

Always moving. Never rushing.
